Tucked In

It was too nice of a day.
The sun was shining,
as if it did not know my loss.
Our loss.

We drove away,
me sitting in the back
behind the driver,
my Father.

Looking out the back window,
I saw the casket
still raised above the ground.
My Brother inside.

Since that day,
I have been unsettled.
Wanting so badly
for him to be tucked in.

I return.
Not quite five years later.
Too late a return,
too soon a return.

Not ready,
nor prepared,
but needing
to see his marker
with his name
and his dates,
and the ground
finally green with grass.

Tucked in at last.
Resting in peace.
